These expressions help show how certain or uncertain we are about something. They’re super useful for writing, speaking, or even tea-spilling with style.

1. Definitely


Definition: 100% sure, no doubt


Example: She definitely passed the exam — she studied all night!




2. Certainly


Definition: Strong agreement or confirmation


Example: He’s certainly the best player on the team.




3. Probably


Definition: More likely to be true than not


Example: They’ll probably arrive late because of the traffic.




4. Possibly


Definition: Maybe true, but not sure


Example: She’s possibly at home, but I’m not certain.




5. Apparently


Definition: Seems true based on what you heard or saw


Example: Apparently, they broke up last week.




6. Seem


Definition: Gives the impression of something


Example: He seems tired today.




7. Obviously


Definition: Clearly true, easy to notice


Example: Obviously, she’s not interested in the topic.




8. Clearly


Definition: Undeniably true


Example: He clearly didn’t do the homework.




9. Maybe


Definition: 50/50 chance, expressing uncertainty


Example: Maybe we’ll go to the party if we finish early.




10. Apparently


Definition: Something that seems true based on information or gossip


Example: Apparently, the teacher gave everyone the same grade.
